WIENER SYMPHONIKER - LAHAV SHANI

RENAUD CAPUÇON

The young maestro Lahav Shani burst on to the scene in 2013 when he won the prestigious Gustav Mahler Conducting Competition, and his subsequent career has been dazzling as he enchants the audiences of the best orchestras in the world with his baton. He performed as a pianist last year at the Easter Festival and is back again this year alongside the violinist Renaud Capuçon, at the head of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.

The programme includes Ravel, Dukas and Chausson; sparkling, colourful music, entirely in tune with their respective temperaments. The evening's very interesting menu includes a touch of orchestral smoothness, a zest of virtuosity (with Ravel's breath-taking Tzigane ), and above all, a few classics amid the classics, including The Sorcerer's Apprentice by Dukas – that became popular thanks to Disney's Fantasia.
