A Responsible Festival

The Easter Festival is committed to offering its audience a programme of excellence while reaffirming its commitment to addressing the environmental and societal issues of the 21st century. As such, we pay particular attention to the impact of our event on the environment and society. We wish to continue our efforts by implementing sustainable and responsible actions.

The aim is to continue reducing the Festival's environmental footprint in light of current major issues and to join an eco-responsible movement already undertaken by several festivals at regional and even national level. The first carbon assessment of the Easter Festival, carried out in 2024, identified specific areas for action and enabled this momentum to be maintained in the 2025 and 2026 editions, through several initiatives:

Mobility and accessibility

• Encouraging artists to travel by train as much as possible.
• Pooling transport for local transfers of artists and orchestras.
• A link to a dedicated carpooling platform for spectators.
• Free and accessible activities in the region for audiences who are remote or unable to attend.

Eco-friendly practices and energy

• LED subtitling for shows.
• Reduced programme sizes and biographies available on the website.
• Adjusted print quantities for programmes.
• Continued recycling via dedicated sorting bins (audience side and dressing room side).
• Seasonal dishes at the Teddy Bar and meat-free options.
• Recycling of organic waste.

Collective and reasoned approach

• Partnerships with local organisations and service providers.
• Involvement of the entire team in raising awareness among artists and audiences.
• Emergence of a collective consciousness around these environmental issues.

Note

The Easter Festival has chosen to host the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra in residence for four days: this extended period allows for the rationalisation of European travel while offering a variety of concert formats (symphonic, chamber music and solidarity initiatives in the region) thanks to this increased presence. A great challenge for the festival!
