The immensely talented Alexandre Kantorow, the first ever French pianist to win the prestigious Tchaikovsky competition, began his international career at the tender age of sixteen.

A performer Classic magazine refers to as “the Tzar of French pianists”, he has honed his craft with a regimen of constant touring and recording in a repertoire that swings from the sweetest to the most eruptive, which this evening takes us from Sonata No. 1 by a young Brahms to Schubert’s famed Wanderer Fantasie.

To finish off this 100% romantic programme, the pianist has chosen a selection of lieder for piano and voice by Schubert transcribed by Liszt, revealing the impetuous audacity that hides behind the intimacy of the original poem.
