Carte Blanche à Renaud Capuçon

The piece is almost one hundred and thirty years old, but it has retained all of its freshness. Nevertheless, it almost disappeared entirely as Saint-Saëns deemed it did not deserve to be performed. What piece you may ask? The Carnival of the Animals of course, composed in 1886 but only performed in public in 1922. Today however, the “zoological fantasy” represents one of the pillars of the repertoire for families. Renaud Capuçon will dedicate his “animal” carte blanche to this piece as well as Schubert 's superb Quintet “The Trout” that owes its nickname to the composer's lied, a sweet fable on innocence lost from the fourth movement.
