Le Sacre du printemps

François-Xavier Roth founded his ensemble in 2003, and ever since has brought his inimitable sound to the demanding world of period instruments with razor-sharp accents, granite sonorities and incisive contrasts.

In 2013, for the 100th anniversary of the Rite of Spring , he was the first to conduct the piece with the instruments used at its first performance. He will repeat this performance in a Stravinsky-only programme that also includes The Firebird , the first ballet written by the young Russian exile when he arrived in Paris. Distinguished guest, the violinist Isabelle Faust, will bring a swinging touch to the captivating jazzy-baroque accents of the Violin concerto.
