Bruce Liu

Tchaïkovski, Scriabine, Prokofiev
Wednesday 23 April - 20h30
Conservatoire Darius Milhaud

Winner of the highly prestigious International Piano Chopin Competition in Warsaw in 2021, Bruce Liu’s puts his “playing of breathtaking beauty” (BBC Music Magazine) to work on an all-Russian programme.

Bruce Liu’s two latest recordings entitled Waves, came out in 2023 and focused on French music. However, as he explained when he won the Chopin Competition, he will not be restricted to just one repertoire. For his first recital at the Easter Festival, he has chosen to play two major 20th century Russian sonatas, Scriabin’s Piano Sonata No. 4 and Prokofiev’s Seventh, followed by The Seasons by Tchaikovsky, piece we do not often get to hear in concert.
Liu was born in Paris of Chinese origin and grew up in Montréal, a true citizen of the globe whose career path has been truly stratospheric.
