Concert

Ensemble Jupiter, Lea Desandre

Haendel
Tuesday 15 April - 20h30
Grand Théâtre de Provence

Following on from a magnificent performance of Vivaldi in 2021, the French-Italian mezzo-soprano Lea Desandre is back at the Easter Festival with Thomas Dunford’s Ensemble Jupiter.

The affinity between the mezzo-soprano, the lutenist and the musicians of the Ensemble Jupiter is clear to all. Dubbed an “operatic revelation” at the 2017 Victoires de la musique and winner of “Female Singer of the Year” at the 2022 Opus Klassik, Desandre honed her craft at William Christie’s Jardin des voix and represents the new generation of baroque music, along with Dunford, with whom she has worked for a number of years. She brings her generous tonality and keen high notes to bear on Handel, after recording Eternal Heaven alongside Dunford and the Ensemble Jupiter in 2022, a meticulously narrated love story through the German-British composer’s work.
