Concert

Martha Argerich, Renaud Capuçon

Orchestre national du Capitole
Friday 11 April - 20h30
Grand Théâtre de Provence

The opening night of the 2025 edition of the Easter Festival sees Renaud Capuçon swap his bow for a baton with the Orchestre national du Capitole de Toulouse. Joining them on the piano is a Festival stalwart, the “legend” Martha Argerich.

You would be forgiven for thinking that outstanding pianist Martha Argerich’s favourite Beethoven Concertos are his 4th and 5th, but you would be wrong: she has always had a soft spot for his first two, and has played them on many occasions. In addition to this performance of Piano Concerto No. 1, Capuçon will also be conducting Dvorak’s Eighth Symphony and Danse mystique by Charlotte Sohy, two eminently lyrical pieces.
