Concert

Rudolf Buchbinder, Michael Sanderling

Luzerner Sinfonieorchester
Saturday 12 April - 20h30
Grand Théâtre de Provence

The Lucerne Symphony Orchestra along with chief conductor Michael Sanderling and accompanied by pianist Rudolf Buchbinder, give us a rare chance to see a group of immense artists perform.

In 2023, the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra led by Michael Sanderling recorded critically acclaimed versions of four of Brahms’ symphonies: according to the Frankfurter Allgemeine “it is rare for a recording to combine emotional warmth and attention with the how and why of the composition”. We should expect more of the same from their Easter Festival performance of Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 1 and Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 “From the New World”. Pianist Rudolf Buchbinder for whom “there can be no compromise in music”, has had a rich career spanning 60 years as a specialist of the German repertoire.
