The cello is a woody, warm instrument that produces a sound that is close to the human voice, and has always been popular among Easter Festival audiences.

Yet again, eight of our best soloists will feature on the stage of the Jeu de Paume theatre to perform together some of the most beautiful compositions for this exceptional instrument.

The magical alchemy formed by this remarkable octet can be heard in the feverish extracts of operas such as Bizet’s Carmen, Verdi’s La Traviata, and Granados’ Goyescas. The more tranquil Legends by Dvořak and Ernest Bloch’s Prière, will give us a glimpse of the cello’s softer, more spiritual side.

Works by Granados, Verdi, Bizet, Dvořák, Mahler et Bloch (transcriptions for cello octet by Roland Pidoux)
