Clarinet Trio Anthology

Beethoven, Bruch, Brahms
Wednesday 03 April - 18h00
Théâtre du Jeu de Paume

Born into a family of virtuosos, Daniel Ottensamer combines his job as clarinettist with the Vienna Philharmonic with an international solo career.

He is just as comfortable playing concertos as he is chamber music, and in 2021 he set up a trio with cellist Stephan Koncz and pianist Christoph Traxler with the ambitious plan to record the entire repertoire for this type of trio. Their recently released box-set received unanimously positive reviews in the press. This evening’s programme brings together the three main milestones of German Romanticism, and includes two trios by Beethoven and Bruch as well as Brahms’ famed Clarinet Trio in A minor (1891).

Stephan Koncz, cello
Daniel Ottensamer, clarinet
Christoph Traxler, piano

Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827)
Trio in B-flat major, op. 11 « Gassenhauer »

Max Bruch (1838-1920)
8 Pieces for Clarinet, Viola and Piano, op. 83 (extracts)

Johannes Brahms (1833-1897)
Clarinet Trio, op. 114
