Francesco Piemontesi

Beethoven, Debussy
Thursday 28 March - 20h30
Conservatoire Darius Milhaud

After his standout performances of Beethoven in 2015 and Strauss in 2018, pianist Francesco Piemontesi is back at the Easter Festival this year to give a recital.

A refined, erudite musician, he trained in Switzerland and Germany with Alfred Brendel and Murray Perahia. He has a particular affection for the Viennese repertoire to which his clear playing style and precise finger work are particularly suited. He has chosen to perform Beethoven’s tumultuous Piano Sonata N° 21 in C major, known as the “Waldstein” and considered to be a major masterpiece of the romantic piano repertoire. Piemontesi’s vast palette is equally suited to Debussy’s Preludes, a corpus of short, highly expressive pieces that conjure up a variety of images and perfumes.
