Paul Lewis

Schubert, Liszt and Brahms

Paul Lewis is a disciple of the great Alfred Brendel and today is one of Britain's most talented pianists. He was born into a working-class, non-musical family in Liverpool and his talent and work ethic brought him onto the world's stage where he is now acclaimed for both concertos and recitals on all five continents.

He has chosen a programme that includes Schubert , Brahms and Liszt , whose grandiose fantasy The Dante Sonata, is an immense piece that begins with a palpitating introduction followed by a description of Dante's hell through brilliant, substantial high notes.
