ORCHESTRE NATIONAL DE FRANCE

Along with the Orchestre national de France , Emmanuel Krivine has invited the Italian pianist Francesco Piemontesi to play the Symphonic Variations by César Franck. This hybrid piece is not precisely a concerto or a piano symphony, Franck was heavily influenced by Beethoven, and deeply marked by Wagner and Liszt. From plaintive contemplation to bubbling lightness, he expresses a remarkable palette of characters.
Francesco Piemontesi is regularly invited to the BBC Proms or the Lucerne Festival. His style is “ playful, assertive, intelligent (...), with bone-china clarity ” according to The Times and he will enchant us with Richard Strauss ' Burlesque. In honour of Debussy's centenary, the orchestra will play three colourful, suave, effervescent movements from Images.
