Elim Chan, Renaud Capuçon
Elim Chan is one of the conducting world’s rising stars. She leads the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, whose performance alongside Renaud Capuçon at the 2022 festival is still very fresh in our minds.
Elim Chan, the first woman to win the famed Donatella Flick Conducting Competition in 2014 is, according to the Sunday Times, “a rare example of a young conductor at once brilliant and not in the least showing off.” Since then, she has worked with some of the world’s most renowned orchestras including the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. In tandem with the exceedingly romantic Violin Concerto by a young Strauss, played by Renaud Capuçon (who just recorded this piece), she will also give us her reading of the suites in Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet.
