Ensemble Astera

Mozart, Say, Nielsen
Monday 21 April - 18h00
Théâtre du Jeu de Paume

Winner of the first prize at the Carl Nielsen International Chamber Music Competition in 2023, the Ensemble Astera blends original compositions for woodwind quintets with established pieces from the repertoire.

The Ensemble Astera is first and foremost a group of friends. They all met at the Haute École de musique in Lausanne in 2019 and today, all five musicians meet up regularly around Europe to share their passion and work on their “refined and precise” sound as Andreas Sundén, President of the Nielsen Competition put it. Their natural curiosity and love for their craft lead them to pepper repertoire standards with contemporary pieces.
