Quatuor Belcea

The only Quartet evening at this year’s festival features the Belcea Quartet playing two of the repertoire’s standards: Mozart’s String Quartet No. 20 “Hoffmeister” and the third of Beethoven’s “Razumovsky” Quartets.
In 2022, Diapason magazine said that “The four musicians are very tightly connected, combining flexibility, momentum and a certain verticality”. They have dipped into their vast repertoire, that spans the entire history of the string quartet from Haydn to contemporary pieces, and includes a number of complete works, to bring us Mozart’s String Quartet No. 20 “Hoffmeister”, that expresses a form of “thoughtful seriousness” according to Bernard Fournier, and the last of Beethoven’s String Quartets Op. 59, a reference for the entire romantic movement.
