Concert

Les 12 violoncellistes du Philharmonique de Berlin

Orchestre de chambre du Festival de Verbier
Tuesday 22 April - 20h30
Grand Théâtre de Provence

The twelve cellists from the Berlin Philharmonic, more commonly known as “Die Zwölf” (The Twelve), form a veritable institution that just recently celebrated its fiftieth birthday.

This year’s appearance of the twelve cellists from Berlin at the Easter festival is another chance to enjoy the cello ensemble repertoire, after the remarkable performance by eight of the soloists in 2023. The musicians, among Europe’s best, have worked with a range of contemporary composers which means their highly varied concert programmes feature newly composed pieces alongside old favourites. Their repertoire goes from light to serious, from classical to jazz, from contemporary pieces to tango, and their warm, rich sound takes the audience on a true journey of discovery.
