Grand concert pour les Aixois
Founded by Laurence Equilbey, the Accentus ensemble has developed a truly emotional connection with audiences in the Grand Théâtre, where it performs on a regular basis.
For this, the traditional free concert for the people of Aix, the choir is teaming up with Sigvards Klava, conductor of the Latvian Radio Choir.
Together they will take on the sublime choral a cappella repertoire from the Slavic and Baltic regions. Inspired by the heights of the orthodox liturgy, pieces from Georgy Sviridov and Sergei Rachmaninoff speak directly to the spiritual realm, without renouncing a powerful, almost symphonic feel. More recent pieces from Finnish composer Einojuhani Rautavaara and Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks are redolent of the Middle Ages, their soaring themes an invitation to introspection and contemplation.
