Célia Oneto Bensaid, Vanessa Wagner
Happy Birthday Mr. Glass! As the legendary composer turns 90, pianists Célia Oneto Bensaid and Vanessa Wagner, two of his greatest champions, will perform the entirety of his Piano Etudes.
Philip Glass began composing his Etudes in 1991, originally intending them for his own use. They now represent a key part of his work and a major addition to such a historically rich genre. Vanessa Wagner, a fan from day one, has enjoyed playing works by Glass for ten years, and we have enjoyed listening to her. For Wagner, the Etudes speak of “a meditative and emotional journey, an experience that makes sense over time”. Pianist Célia Oneto Bensaid is following in the footsteps of Vanessa Wagner and recently released a recording of work by Glass. What a perfect way to celebrate the composer’s 90th birthday!
