A compelling programme in two concerts! Renaud Capuçon and nine young violinists, most of whom have been involved with Génération @ Aix since its inception in 2013, will perform Beethoven’s ten Sonatas for Violin and Piano, accompanied by the pianists Guillaume Bellom and Théo Fouchenneret.

Following the Triple Concerto, Aix Easter Festival once again celebrates Beethoven with the complete set of his violin sonatas. Composed between 1797 and 1812, these pieces rank very highly in the violin and piano repertoire and illustrate the composer’s evolution, from the classical elegance, reminiscent of Mozart and Haydn, to the heroism and, later, the serenity and spirituality of the later ones. In the spirit of Génération @ Aix, Renaud Capuçon has brought together the best of young violinists (all born in France) and each brings their own colour, energy and sensitivity to these essential milestones in chamber music.
