Renaud Capuçon, Orchestre de chambre de Lausanne
To open the festival, Renaud Capuçon conducts “his orchestra”, the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne. The lyricism and touches of real grandeur of Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 5, Reformation meet the delicate charm of Mozart’s Flute and Harp Concerto.
Renaud Capuçon’s apprenticeship with Mendelssohn has been going on for years and his recording as a young violinist of the Violin Concerto with Daniel Harding remains a highlight of his discography. As both violinist and conductor, he continues to give Mendelssohn pride of place. Lucky audiences in Aix got to hear him close the Easter Festival 2025 with Ecossaise in C alongside the Luxemburg Philharmonic Orchestra. Karl-Heinz Schütz, the head flautist with the Vienna Philharmonic, and the highly promising Tjasha Gafner, will be soloists on Mozart’s Flute and Harp Concerto.
