Concert

Angelika Kirchschlager

Ideally accompanied by Jérôme Ducros, Angelika Kirchschlager won over the Salle Pleyel during a weekend dedicated to Schubert and Korngold that brought together the Capuçons and their friends in 2011. She has declared that she wishes to concentrate on her recital career, given the difficulties inherent in the life of an opera singer, and so continues her collaboration with Ducros by bringing a third, familiar colleague to join them: Gautier Capuçon (the Jérôme Ducros/Gautier Capuçon tandem already performed Variations on a Theme by Rossini by Paganini at Théâtre des Champs-Élysées at the end of 2010). For this concert, the mezzo-soprano, that the Aix-en-Provence audience enjoyed greatly in November 2010 along with the Kammerorchester Basel and Paul McCreesh, is going for a well-balanced mix of old favourites and new discoveries. On the one hand, some Schubert, Brahms, Massenet or Saint-Saëns, on the other, composers such as Konradin Kreutzer (1780-1849), Karl Gottlieb Reissiger (1798-1859), Saverio Mercadante (1795-1870), Heinrich Proch (1809-1878), Jacob Fabricius (1840-1919), Frank Bridge (1897-1941)... and a new piece by Christian Muthspiel for mezzo-soprano and cello, created at the Musikverein in Vienna in May 2012.
