Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester - Herbert Blomstedt

The Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester promotes openness, enthusiasm and diversity and, since it was set up by Claudio Abbado in 1986, it has formed the young guard of classical musicians from all over Europe. A number of musicians that have passed through the GMJO now occupy some of the most important jobs in the world's biggest orchestras – or have gone on to have flourishing solo careers like Renaud Capuçon, who was once first violin.

Since 2008, the Swedish Herbert Blomstedt , currently Conductor Laureate at the San Francisco Symphony (and honorary conductor of a number of other orchestras), particularly well known for his performances of Austrian and German composers, will conduct Bruckner 's Fourth Symphony sub-titled Romantic. Its rich orchestration, shimmering textures and powerful sonority should provide the musicians with a chance to show the extent of their talent.
