Trio Zimmermann

The violinist Frank Peter Zimmermann wanted to form a string trio for a long time and his 2007 encounter with the French viola player Antoine Tamestit and the Swiss cellist Christian Poltéra made it possible. Since their joint debuts, the musicians, all of whom play on instruments made by Stradivarius, have convincingly displayed their sense of instrumental balance, and their recordings confirm the impressions given in their recitals.

Their first recording in 2010 of Mozart's Divertimento – one of the classics of the string trio repertoire, a rich and demanding piece – was welcomed with the greatest enthusiasm. And this is the music they have chosen to play for the opening of Aix Easter Festival 2014!
