Concert

Christiane Karg

During the summer of 2013, Christiane Karg appeared at the Glyndebourne festival in Hippolyte et Aricie by Rameau, under the direction of William Christie. But she also pays tribute to the romantic repertoire with her voice, that comes with a discreet vibrato, a power of measure and a sort of integrated “rhetoric”.

Her programme is dedicated to composers from the turn of the 20th century: the Swiss Othmar Schoeck , the Austrian Hugo Wolf , whose writing contains a post-romantic language that evolves toward modernism. The recital will also include pieces from Strauss and Schoenberg whose post-romantic fluidity will contrast with the impressionism and symbolism of Debussy 's Cinq poèmes de Baudelaire.
