Bach, Goldberg Variations

Beatrice Rana

The rising star of Italian piano, Beatrice Rana is a musician that blends a certain freshness with “authority and a sense of drama” ( La Lettre du musicien ).

At the tender age of twenty-four, she has just recorded her third disc of two concertos by Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev, illustrating her multifarious and irresistible talents.

For her first performance at the Easter Festival, Beatrice Rana opens her heart with a performance of one of the piano's greatest pieces, Bach 's Goldberg Variations, made up of thirty variations of one aria around a theme in the form of a saraband. The cycle allowed the composer to utilise all of the variations possible: canons, various counterpoints and fugues.
