Concert

M. Vengerov, A. Weilerstein, Sj. Cho

Schumann, Ravel, Shostakovich

The “best violinist in the world” (Le Monde), Maxim Vengerov , is back! He has rediscovered the brio of old, with an added dash of serenity and sobriety. His brilliant and energetic playing will bring a spark to a formidably difficult Tzigane.

For the elegiac and melancholic accents of Trio No. 2 by Shostakovich , Vengerov shares the stage with the New York based cellist Alisa Weilerstein. At the age of 34, she is equally at ease in contemporary pieces as she is in the greatest concertos of the repertoire. The Korean pianist Seong-Jin Cho , who was outstanding in Rachmaninov's third concerto in the 2016 Festival, will complete this breath-taking group.
