After a triumphant recital at the 2023 Easter Festival, Alexandre Kantorow, the “French piano Tzar” (Classica), is back in Aix where he will perform three romantic sonatas in tandem with Renaud Capuçon.

A huge fan of chamber music, the festival’s musical director is always keen to play with the best talent the younger generation has to offer. From the beginning to the end of the 19th century, our musical journey starts with the delicate, passionate textures of Fauré’s Sonata. The journey continues with the fiery notes of Beethoven’s Piano Sonata n°3 that still shows traces of Mozart and Salieri’s classicism. Our evening of romantic chamber music ends with the almost orchestral sonic texture of the Violin Sonata, an early piece from Richard Strauss, better known for his symphonic poems.
