Yulianna Avdeeva

Bach, Chopin, Liszt
Piano Recital
Monday 30 March - 8:30 pm
Conservatoire Darius Milhaud

Having enthralled Easter Festival audiences in 2024 with Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2, Yulianna Avdeeva is back in Aix this year for a solo recital (to be followed by a Chamber Music performance on April 6).

The love story between Yulianna Avdeeva and Frédéric Chopin goes back fifteen years at least. In 2010, she won the 16th annual International Chopin Piano Competition, one of the piano world’s most prestigious prizes. Avdeeva’s most recent recording as a pianist in 2024 was of some of Chopin’s later work. At Aix this year, she will be playing his Preludes, op. 28, a high point of the Romantic era and aesthetic. In addition, we will hear some of Liszt’s later pieces as well as Bach’s Chromatic Fantasia and Fugue in D minor, a firm favourite among the Romantics.
