Long-time Easter Festival stalwarts, Edgar Moreau and David Kadouch are set to give a piano-cello recital from Beethoven to Rachmaninoff with just a hint of Romanticism.

Edgar Moreau, the cello’s “little prince”, made his début as part of the Génération @ Aix programme in 2013, around the time he was also starting to make waves on the international stage. In the space of just a few years, he began winning prestigious awards, recording extensively and performing on some of the world’s biggest stages. Not long afterwards, he started his highly productive collaboration with David Kadouch, a fellow winner of the Victoires de la musique and former Conservatoire de Paris prodigy. The pair will perform Beethoven’s Cello Sonata No. 3 in A major, Op. 69, where the cello is given equal billing with the piano, as well as Schubert’s magnificent Arpeggione Sonata. They will also perform the Cello Sonata in G minor, Op. 19, a piece that is held aloft by its intense virtuosity and one of Rachmaninoff’s rare incursions into chamber music.
