Lahav Shani, Chen Reiss
The residency of the Munich Philharmonic in Aix continues with a programme that showcases their artistic range. Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23 with soloist Lahav Shani is followed by Mahler’s Fourth Symphony.
Lahav Shani is as brilliant a pianist as he is a conductor, as we saw during Munichbased musician’s previous visit in Spring 2026. He is particularly well-known for his performance of Mozart and takes on the dual mantle of performer-conductor for Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23 and its magnificently melancholic Adagio. As other musicians join the group, Shani will shift from the banquette to the podium for Mahler’s Fourth Symphony after last year’s performance of his First Symphony. First performed in Munich in 1901 by the predecessor of the Munich Philharmonic and conducted by the composer himself, this performance ends with the beautifully crisp voice of soprano and Mahler authority Chen Reiss.
