Daniil Trifonov
“Last night, I listened to him again on YouTube – he has it all, and more. What he does with his hands is technically unbelievable. And his touch: tender and demonic at the same time. I have never heard anything like it”. This is how Martha Argerich (who is not just an extraordinary pianist, but also a gifted discoverer of talent) speaks of Daniil Trifonov.
The public discovered him at the Chopin Competition in Warsaw in 2010; the young man confirmed his importance in the Rubinstein Competition in Tel-Aviv (1st prize and gold medal) and the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow (grand prix, 1st prize and gold medal) in 2011. Since then, the charismatic pianist has been snowed under with invitations from the world's most prestigious orchestras. But he also continues to play solo concerts, such as this one where he followed Liszt 's incomparable monument of romanticism Sonata in B minor , with the Variations on a Theme by Chopin Op. 22 by Rachmaninov (1902-03).
