Concert

Sonya Yoncheva

The Bulgarian rising star, Sonya Yoncheva , is no stranger to Aix-en-Provence where she won the Prix spécial des Amis du Festival in the summer of 2007. The same year, her stint at Le Jardin des Voix, the academy for young singers organised by William Christie and Les Arts Florissants, also helped to open the doors of the world's biggest concert halls.

She certainly didn't stop there, walking off with the 1st prize in the renowned Operalia competition presided over by Placido Domingo in 2010, while performing a number of starring opera roles: including Dido and Æneas with William Christie in New York and in Russia, the title role in The Coronation of Poppea conducted by Emmanuelle Haïm, in which she triumphed in Lille in March 2012, Leïla in Bizet's Pêcheurs de perles at the Opéra Comique in June (her perfect command of the French language is a great advantage).

At the Théâtre du Jeu de Paume, she will be accompanied by Federico Brunello on the piano.
