Concert

Khatia Buniatishvili & Gidon Kremer

Last minute

Unfortunately, Martha Argerich is ill and cannot appear tonight for the inaugural concert with Gidon Kremer at Aix Easter Festival. She will be replaced by star pianist Khatia Buniatishvili. We apologize for the inconvenience. The box office can answer your questions: 08 2013 2013.

The Argerich/Kremer duo have been at the top of their game for thirty years in music for violin and piano. Both amply fulfilled the expectations and their meeting inaugurated a string of successes, with Kremer's flexibility counterpointing Argerich's fugue, the curiosity of one feeding that of the other. They share the same devotion to young talent.

They will be honouring Mieczyslaw Weinberg Polish-born but naturalised Russian composer and friend of Shostakovich whose life was marked by the political and human upheaval of the 20th century. Following the warmly lyrical early Sonata in E-flat major by Strauss they will play Beethoven 's Sonata number 8 for violin and piano.
