Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert
Christoph Eschenbach is one of those exceptional musicians, capable one evening of conducting an orchestra and choir through Beethoven's Ninth and the next of performing as a pianist in a chamber music concert. Alongside Renaud Capuçon , he will perform Beethoven's Spring, one of his more playful sonatas. They will be joined by Alisa Weilerstein , the virtuoso cellist from New York and by Gérard Caussé , a festival regular, and together they will present the enchanted sounds of Mozart's String Quartet No. 1 in all its fluency and iridescent colours.
Finally, these exceptional musicians will come together to play Schubert's The Trout , the joyous masterpiece, written when the composer was barely twenty-two.
