Concert

Pergolesi, Stabat Mater

Cappella Gabetta, Valer Sabadus, Christophe Dumaux

For over seven years, Cappella Gabetta has been toiling virgin lands, in search of forgotten jewels.

Valer Sabadus and Christophe Dumaux , both discovered by William Christie, will join the ensemble which will be directed by Andres Gabetta on the violin, performing an original panorama of multiple versions of the Stabat Mater and related genres, composed in the pious Italy of the early 18th century. Going beyond the preconceptions of austerity that Mary's compassion for her suffering Son can engender, the programme displays the diversity of expression of the composers of the time, from Vivaldi's vocal acrobatics to Pergolesi 's sharp harmonies.
