Bach, suites for cello(s)

EMMANUELLE BERTRAND, MARC COPPEY, OPHÉLIE GAILLARD

The greatest French cellists grace us with their takes on Bach's six Cello suites dedicated to an instrument that was rarely used at the time.

Six authentic and diverse musical personalities Ophélie Gaillard, Emmanuelle Bertrand, Marc Coppey, Jérôme Pernoo, Xavier Phillips, and Anne Gastinel come together to play these intimate masterpieces, composed of a succession of dances, of varying character and tempo. The Suites were written between 1720 and 1725, during Bach's most prolific period, but faded into obscurity during the romantic period.

They were brought back to life by Pablo Casals and entered the music canon forever.
