Concert

Mendelssohn, Violin Concerto

Jean-Claude Casadesus, Anna Agafia Egholm

Guest of honour of the Festival, Jean-Claude Casadesus was, for four decades, one of the great “citizen conductors” (Le Monde), and indefatigable defender of classical music for all with the Orchestre National de Lille.

The young, 28-year-old Danish prodigy Anna Agafia Egholm will showcase her talent alongside Casadesus in Mendelssohn’s marvellous Violin Concerto, the romantic repertoire’s most virtuoso piece.
Finally, the maestro will lead the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra in one of his favourite pieces: Scheherazade, Op.35 by Rimski-Korsakov, a high point in musical orientalism that takes its inspiration from the elegance and finesse of the Arabian Nights, rediscovered in Russia during the 19th century.
