Concert

La Monnaie Orchestra, Ludovic Morlot

The Grand Théâtre de Provence is pleased to welcome the symphony orchestra from one of Europe's greatest opera houses, La Monnaie de Bruxelles , with a history that goes back to the 18th century. Wielding the baton will be the “international” Ludovic Morlot : French-born and trained in London's greatest musical institutions, he works on both sides of the Atlantic: in Europe, since 2012, at the head of the Orchestre de La Monnaie; and in the United States as Music Director of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra.

Messiaen 's Trois petites liturgies de la présence divine will be performed alongside two pieces by Richard Strauss : la Grande Suite from The Knight of the Rose , that borrows from the operatic repertoire, an area where the musicians from La Monnaie excel, and Burlesque , one of Strauss' youthful compositions for solo piano and orchestra, to be performed by Bertrand Chamayou.
