Philharmonique de Radio France, Myung-Whun Chung

The Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France needs no introduction – especially since it works in close collaboration with the Grand Théâtre de Provence. It is only natural for the orchestra to take its place within the 2014 Easter Festival, led by Myung-Whun Chung , its music director since 2000, to perform Mahler 's Ninth Symphony.

“Mahler is, without a doubt, the greatest composer for an orchestra. When I conduct a Mahler Symphony, I get the impression that I am living a lifetime. I became a conductor to perform his music, while to begin with I wanted to be a pianist” the conductor confided.

So the Austrian composer is at the heart of his approach to his art, and in fact, a few years ago, he conducted all of Mahler's symphonies in one season.
