Renaud Capuçon, Charles Dutoit

For his fifth Carte blanche, Renaud Capuçon is leaning clearly toward 19th century romanticism, imbued with the melodic poetry of the Violin Concerto by Mendelssohn or the transatlantic soul of the Symphony n°9 “from The New World” by Dvořak.

The violinist, (who is also the Festival's artistic director) will be accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra , the London-based custodians of the great British symphonic tradition. The orchestra has been under the baton of the Swiss chef Charles Dutoit since 2009, a discriminating connoisseur of the French repertoire with which he has made his name in the United States, where he is a regular guest.
