BACH, VARIATIONS GOLDBERG

DAVID FRAY

Music is a family affair for the Serkins.

The young Peter developed his fingering skills, learned to appreciate the precision of a text and how to analyse a piece of music from his father Rudolf , a virtuoso student of the composer Arnold Schoenberg. From the very beginning of his prize-winning career, he has been driven by a desire for truth that leads him to explore each piece in great depth.

This year, he will take on Bach 's indomitable Goldberg Variations ,an absolute monument that he has already recorded four times. Thirty variations on a slow, poetic theme that concentrate all of the characters and genres of music from the beginning of the 18th century (opera, dance, fugue, canon, etc.) in an unparalleled model of plenitude.
