CAMERATA SALZBURG - A. DE LA PARRA

OLGA PERETYATKO, FELIX KLIESER

After stand-out performances in 2016 and 2018, the Camerata Salzburg is back to Aix. The choice is artistically unimpeachable, as the reputation of this chamber orchestra and its “contagious enthusiasm” ( Neue Zürcher Zeitung ) is based on performing pieces by Salzburg's most famous son.

Between the Symphonies No. 20 and n°34 , the ensemble, with the spirited Alondra de la Parra at the helm, reveals a true gem: one of four Horn concertos written by Mozart for his childhood friend, Joseph Leutgeb. The prodigious speed of the instrument – that we at times associate with the military bugle call – is matched by the smoothness of its tone, underpinned by the connection with the orchestra.

As an interlude, the Russian soprano Olga Peretyatko , “an adept of bel canto who handles any difficulty with breath-taking ease” (Le Figaro) , will perform a number of pieces from the divine composer's most famous operas.
