Concert

Yo-Yo Ma & Kathryn Stott

It would be hard to find a bigger star than the cellist Yo-Yo Ma!

One of Leonard Bernstein's protégés, he came to the attention of the general public in France, where he was born, with his performances with the Orchestre National de France and the Orchestre de Paris. His curiosity and eclecticism have pushed him both in the direction of film scores and in the direction of chamber music. The English pianist Kathryn Stott is one of his longterm partners as the two musicians who met in 1978, first began working together in 1985. Since then, they have worked together constantly and claim they have never had a boring minute together.

The programme of their recital mixes basic pieces from the repertoire for cello and piano such as Brahms ' Piano Sonata N°3 , with lesser known pieces such as Stravinsky 's Suite italienne from his ballet Pulcinella , and some “Latin” pieces from Falla , Villa-Lobos , Piazzolla and Guarnieri.
