The Orchestre national de Lyon was set up at the start of the 20th century and has risen to the ranks of Europe's elite ensembles. The musicians have been under the baton of the American conductor Leonard Slatkin since 2011. Their programme includes Berlioz, Debussy – the superb Iberia suite visited – and Rachmaninov, whose Piano Concerto n° 3 will be played by Daniil Trifonov.

Martha Argerich was so impressed with his talent that she declared she had “never heard the like”. “The tenderness and the demoniacal aspect” that she felt in him will surely make his per formance unforgettable.
